Traditional grape varieties
Modra and its surroundings have excellent conditions for the cultivation of Grüner Veltinel, Riesling, Pinot or Blau Fränkish. Modra ´s winemakers are very lucky, because Professor Malík, one of the greatest oenological capacities, bred for them yeasts for their wines, suitable according to the type of soil: sand, rock or clay, which only support and enhance the character of the wine from the Modra wine region.

Modra ceramic, Ľudovít Štúr
Majolica – You have might heard about Modra ´s ceramics or have them somewhere at home. In Modra, the production of ceramics has a tradition and you can visit the production in or even learn to make ceramics in the workshops they organize. Younger ceramicists also work in Modra, who create ceramics with respect for tradition, but in a modern design.
Museum of Ľudovíta Štúr - In the center of Modra is a dominant statue of our important national figure, politician, writer, Ľudovít Štúr, who is also buried in Modra. You can visit the Museum dedicated to him. It also includes the room in which Štúr lived.
Galery of Ignác Bizmayer - presents a representative selection from the works of Ignác Bizmayer. A significant part of the exhibited works is mainly his top figural work and ceramic sculpture based on folk art. It is located in the rotunda from the 17th century.

On the maind square you will find cafes with quality selected coffee, homemade cakes and especially local wines. Some winemakers from Modra even have their businesses in the centre. Modra has an unmistakable atmosphere thanks to its well-preserved architecture, Modra ceramics, the legacy of Ľudovít Štúr and local winemakers. From Modra you can also see wonderful views of the vineyards in Harmonia. If it happens, the shops are closed, you can still buy wine from the wine machine from local Modra ´s winemakers, paying by card.
Cafe Modur - The stylish cafe on the square has been providing quality coffee, cakes, ice cream in the summer season, but also wines from local winemakers for years.
Staré časy - a beautifully used old town house that serves as a cafe with homemade cakes and of course coffee and ice cream. The house also has a hall that is used for weddings. Traditional stone vaults in combination with modern furniture will welcome you.
Cycling routes
There are a total of 25 routes in Modra with a total length of 61 km. Take the cycle path below Modra, which leads through vineyards, meadows, the route is slightly uphill, just follow the yellow sign. The route is 8.7 km long.
A more demanding route follows the blue sign from Harmonia, from where it climbs slightly to the recreation area. It continues to the location of Ohnavy and from there to Pezinok.
The longest cycle route measures 25.12 km from Šenkvíce following the blue sign through Modra to Zochova chata, from there the forest road starts to Hubalová and ends in the village of Kuchyňa.

The small family winery Rariga was founded in 2003 in Modra, but the roots of grape cultivation go back much earlier. Today, the three Rarig family with 2 employees are building a modern winery with traditional elements in Modra.
In the historic premises of the 400-year-old stone cellar, an experiential tasting of 10 wines from the Lesser Carpathian region awaits you. In the pleasant atmosphere of the historic cellar, you will learn many interesting facts about winemaking, vineyards, and wine production. There will also be an award-winning Riesling - a variety of many forms that is doing very well.
The winemaker himself or the winery's sommelier will accompany you throughout the tasting. In addition to wines, you can also enjoy a selection of gourmet cheeses, pâtés and fresh pastries.

Purus Selection - taste the best of
This tasting is designed so that you can taste the best from the Purus winery workshop in Modra.
Purus is the winery of a young couple, and gradually their children will also learn. The couple come from winemaking families and also have winemaking education and experience. They produce wines that respect the "terroir" of Modra, because they can use yeast that was bred for Modra by prof. Malik.
In their tasting, you will taste 7 wine samples in the production part of the winery, which is a great experience because you will see where the production itself takes place. Winemaker Rasťo Čistý will guide you through the tasting.

Accomodation
Hotel Sebastián u Hoffera - is located in the very center of Modra, just a few meters from the square. The hotel also has a restaurant, a cafe, the premises are often used for family celebrations or weddings. The hotel is located in a Renaissance house from the 16th century. The accommodation is in a family atmosphere and tastefully furnished. There is also a wellness center in the complex. The price is around 60 euros/double room.
May house Modra - stylish rooms and apartments are located right on the square. The accommodation is part of the shop of the Ludvík winery. The environment is in the Tuscan style, you can sit in the alley and enjoy a quality wine. The rooms are in a modern style with respect to the 17th century, from which the house originates. Doprava
Buses - go from Bratislava Mlynské Niva directly to Modra. You can also get to Modra from Pezinok or Vinosadov.
Trains - to Pezinok railway station and transfer to a bus to Modra from the railway station or Pezinok square.
