Slovak New Varieties

Discover Slovak wines in a completely different way – without sight, without distractions, and with your full attention focused on aromas and flavours. Slovak New Varieties is an immersive tasting experience in complete darkness, allowing your other senses to take centre stage and giving you the opportunity to experience wine from a completely different perspective.

The event will take place on Saturday, 9 January 2027, at 18:30 in historic wine cellar premises at Michalská 3 in Bratislava, in the courtyard of the Palace Apartments hotel. During the approximately two-hour tasting, you will sample 7 wines made from 7 different grape varieties bred in Slovakia. Some of them may be familiar to you from names inspired by Slovak rivers, castles or châteaux – but Slovak grape breeding offers much more than just Dunaj and Devín.

Tasting in the Dark

Once the lights are turned off and you remain in complete darkness, the way you perceive wine changes. Without being able to rely on your sight, you naturally pay greater attention to aromas, flavours and other sensations. This unusual approach to wine tasting creates space for new discoveries and often leads to surprising or amusing observations.

The tasting is also an opportunity to take a break from everyday stress and the outside world. During the evening, you can focus solely on the wine, your senses and the experience itself.

This is not a traditional presentation of a particular winery. It is an evening dedicated to wine and, above all, to your own experience.
